Gaylen Chandler is the W. Frank Barton Distinguished Chair in Entrepreneurship and a Professor at the W. Frank Barton School of Business, Wichita State University. His expertise spans entrepreneurship education, new venture development, and strategic decision-making frameworks like effectuation theory. He focuses on venture performance metrics, family business dynamics, and innovation strategies in emerging enterprises.
Research interests include the interplay between entrepreneurial rhetoric and investment outcomes, the role of customer engagement in startup success, and the measurement challenges in effectuation research. He has pioneered studies on exit strategies, value proposition design in declining industries, and the impact of family business governance structures on wealth management.
His work frequently explores how academic entrepreneurship programs can be evaluated through competitions, the predictors of impactful entrepreneurship research, and the strategic use of innovation vs. imitation in firm growth.
