Gavin Davidson is a Professor at Queen's University Belfast's School of Social Sciences, Education and Social Work, affiliated with the Centre for Inclusion, Transformation and Equality (CITE) and the Centre for Technological Innovation, Mental Health and Education (TIME). He holds the Praxis Chair of Social Care and specializes in mental health, inequalities, and human rights. His research focuses on mental health service effectiveness, social determinants of mental health, mental capacity legislation, and adverse childhood experiences.
Davidson has 19 active research projects, including leadership roles in initiatives like the Challenging Health Outcomes - Integrating Care Environments (CHOICE) project. He teaches the Post-Graduate Diploma in Mental Health and Mental Capacity Law, part of Northern Ireland's Approved Social Worker Programme. He advises the Department of Health's Reference Group for the Mental Capacity Act (Northern Ireland) 2016.
