Professor Gary Scudder is a faculty member in the Core Division at Champlain College, where he has taught for over 20 years. His work focuses on interdisciplinary education, with particular emphasis on global perspectives and cross-cultural understanding.

Professor Scudder's research interests span multiple disciplines, with a focus on Islamic Studies and World Literature. His expertise in the Islamic world has led him to develop and lead numerous international educational programs. He has a particular interest in the history of evil, which he has taught in dedicated courses, and in epic literature across cultures. His work in international education has taken him to numerous countries including Jordan, India, Zanzibar, Sri Lanka, Spain, and Portugal, where he has led student groups and developed curriculum.
Professor Scudder has received numerous awards for his teaching and contributions to international education. His most notable recognition includes being named Vermont Professor of the Year by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching in 2010.
