Adjunct Instructor Fred Kosnitsky teaches in Champlain College's Core Division within General Education, specializing in ecological sciences and environmental policy. With over 40 years of environmental advocacy, he contributes expertise from board roles at Vermont Earth Institute, Vermont Public Interest Research Group, and 350vermont.org.
His research interests center on Climate Change and Sustainability, informed by decades of fieldwork and environmental journalism. Kosnitsky's approach integrates policy analysis with ecological principles, emphasizing practical solutions for watershed management and energy transition. His teaching philosophy connects classroom theory to real-world environmental challenges through local case studies like the Potash Brook Watershed.
Kosnitsky serves on the South Burlington Energy Committee and contributes to community sustainability initiatives. His educational background includes undergraduate studies in Biology at Williams College, graduate Ecology work at Dartmouth College, and an Environmental Law MA from Vermont Law School. He has taught at Community College of Vermont since 1983 and joined Champlain College's faculty in 2023.
