Gary Poffenbarger, M.A., is an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at San Antonio's School of Music, specializing in tuba and euphonium instruction. He joined UTSA in Fall 2017, teaching music majors, conducting weekly masterclasses, and directing the UTSA Tuba/Euphonium Ensemble, The Boom Squad.

Poffenbarger has been mentored by iconic musicians such as Sam Pilafian, Arnold Jacobs, and Roger Voisin. His career spans roles as principal tubist with The United States Air Force Academy Band, group leader/music director of The Stellar Brass ensemble, and creator of over 150 musical arrangements. He has also contributed to music notation software training and social media management for Air Force Bands.
