Dr. Gary Altwerger is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at Yale School of Medicine. He specializes in gynecologic oncology, focusing on advanced surgical techniques for uterine, ovarian, and vulvar cancers, including minimally invasive approaches. His research bridges clinical and basic science, with a focus on biomarker identification in uterine cancer and novel therapies for chemotherapy-resistant tumors. Dr. Altwerger leads clinical trials, such as those evaluating desensitization protocols for carboplatin hypersensitivity and antibody-drug conjugates. He is also involved in surgical skill development through the CSATS platform and chairs the Gynecologic Oncology Morbidity and Mortality meetings.
