Garrick Z. Larson is a Lecturer in the Department of Physical Education, Health, and Exercise Science at Concordia College. He has served as head coach for the Cobber Men's Track & Field team since 1993 and previously led Men's Cross Country from 1997-2018, while also serving as Assistant Women's Track & Field coach.
His educational background includes:
- Bachelor of Biology from St. Olaf College (1991)
- Graduate studies in Exercise Science (Kinesiology) at University of Minnesota (1991-1993)
- Master of Education in Science from North Dakota State University (2015)
Larson's expertise spans Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Medicine, and athletic performance domains. His professional certifications include Licensed Certified Athletic Trainer, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and USA Track & Field (Levels I/II) and Weightlifting (Level 1) coaching credentials, reflecting his integrated approach to sports science and coaching.

Under his leadership, athletes achieved 37 men's and 48 women's NCAA Division III National Qualifications with 14 men's and 23 women's All-American honors. Larson's 31 MIAC Indoor and 24 MIAC Outdoor Individual Championships demonstrate sustained program excellence. His personal athletic background as a multi-event collegiate competitor and marathoner (including Boston Marathon qualifications) informs his coaching philosophy.
