Dr. Garrett Carr is a Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at Queen's University Belfast's School of Arts, English and Languages. Promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2019, he specializes in writing about place, cartography, and Irish border studies. His research includes acclaimed works like The Rule of the Land (2017), which explored Ireland's border through travel writing. He curates exhibitions such as Mapping Alternative Ulster and Frontier Work, blending visual art with academic inquiry.
Academically, he holds postgraduate qualifications in Art History, Geography, and a PhD in Creative Writing. He teaches Creative Writing across all levels, supervising three current PhD students in prose and non-fiction. His work aligns with UN SDGs related to cultural preservation and regional development.
