Galit Sarfaty is an Associate Professor at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, holding this position since 2023. Previously, she served as Canada Research Chair in Global Economic Governance (2013-2023) and Associate Professor (2017-2023) at the Allard School of Law, University of British Columbia, and as Assistant Professor at the Wharton School's Department of Legal Studies & Business Ethics (2009-2012). Her academic journey includes fellowships at Harvard Law School's Program on the Legal Profession and Human Rights Program, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
Her research spans Public and Private International Law, International Economic Law, Human Rights, Regulatory Governance, Law and Development, and Organizational Culture. As a legal anthropologist, she examines law in practice, focusing on transnational corporate human rights compliance, global supply chain regulation, and quantitative tools in economic governance. Her acclaimed book Values in Translation: Human Rights and the Culture of the World Bank (Stanford University Press) and publications in top journals like American Journal of International Law and Harvard International Law Journal define her scholarly impact.

Professor Sarfaty's teaching includes International Human Rights Law, Transnational Business and Human Rights, and Public International Law. Her interdisciplinary background—combining a Yale Law JD, University of Chicago Anthropology PhD, and Harvard AB summa cum laude—fuels her unique approach to legal scholarship.
