Jake Effoduh is an Assistant Professor at the Lincoln Alexander School of Law within Toronto Metropolitan University. His expertise spans international human rights advocacy and artificial intelligence governance, with significant contributions to policy frameworks in multiple countries including the United States, Brazil, and Nigeria. He holds leadership roles as Chief Counsel of the Africa–Canada AI and Data Innovation Consortium and coordinates the SSHRC-funded partnership ‘Canada’s Rights Role in Sub-Saharan Africa.’ Currently, he is a Vanier Scholar and Ph.D. candidate at Osgoode Hall Law School.
Research Focus
Effoduh's research explores intersections of international law, human rights, and AI technologies. His work critically examines how AI legitimization impacts human rights advocacy in Africa, with emphasis on techno-legal challenges and transnational justice frameworks. Key domains include algorithmic governance, human rights instrumentation, and decolonial approaches to technology law.

His SSHRC partnership facilitates interdisciplinary collaborations between Canadian and African researchers on rights-based governance models.
