Gail Goddard is a Senior Lecturer at Buckinghamshire New University, appointed full-time in 2023 and currently working part-time while continuing her clinical role as a district nurse. She retired in December 2020 but returned to practice, balancing academic and clinical responsibilities. Her roles include supporting newly qualified nurses, mentoring staff, and advancing practice education.
Educated as a Registered Nurse (RN) at University College Hospital (1988), she transitioned to community nursing in 1990. Her career spans diverse nursing roles: district nurse team manager, specialist community practice teacher, and general practice nurse. She holds a PGCE in Practice Education (recently attained) to enhance her teaching expertise.
Research interests focus on community nursing, public health, and healthcare education innovation. Awards include the Queen’s Nursing Award (2013) and active leadership in professional networks like the RCN DN and Community Nurse Forum Steering Group (4-year tenure, recently renewed). She also serves as a QNI Leader to amplify her advocacy impact.
Teaching responsibilities include contributing to the BSc (Hons) Public Health program. Her advisory work emphasizes clinical mentorship and professional development, with a focus on bridging practice and academia.
