Dr. Gail Carin-Levy is a Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader in the Occupational Therapy & Arts Therapies Division at Queen Margaret University (QMU). She holds a PhD focused on post-stroke delirium and is a Full Member of the Centre for Applied Social Sciences. Her roles include Programme Director for pre-registration Occupational Therapy programs, admissions oversight, and teaching in anatomy, physiology, and research methodologies. Gail is recognized for innovative teaching, receiving awards such as the 2015 Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy and the 2014–2015 QMU STaR Innovating Teaching Award.
Her research interests center on stroke care, delirium identification in acute settings, and occupational participation in later life. Notable contributions include co-authoring textbooks like Muscles, Nerves and Movement in Human Occupation and leading studies on delirium screening and intervention strategies. Gail actively serves on the Royal College of Occupational Therapists' Learning and Development Board and has extensive experience as an External Examiner.
