Gad Barnea is a Research Fellow in the Department of Biblical Studies at the University of Haifa, where he also completed his Ph.D. His academic work focuses on critical editions of ancient biblical texts and scholarly interpretations within Jewish tradition.

Barnea's research centers on Biblical Studies with specialized expertise in Dead Sea Scrolls analysis, Hebrew Bible exegesis, and textual criticism. He is co-author of Hosea — The Word of the Lord that Happened to Hosea for the series 'the Bible in its traditions,' currently developing the Genesis volume for this collection, and preparing a critical edition of 4Q550 for Brill’s DSSE series. His scholarship examines ancient Near Eastern parallels in biblical covenant formulations, particularly Deuteronomy's blessings and curses structures.
