Gabrielle Hackenberg is a Specialist Professor and Academic Fieldwork Coordinator at the Department of Occupational Therapy, Monmouth University. She holds a Doctorate of Occupational Therapy (OTD) from Thomas Jefferson University, a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (MSOT), and a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy (BSOT) from Elizabethtown College.

Her research focuses on Interprofessional Education, Community Aging, and Fieldwork Education. Recent scholarship explores simulation-based learning, case-based education, and competency frameworks in entry-level occupational therapy training, with a particular emphasis on psychosocial practice, pediatric interventions, and interprofessional collaboration. Articles highlight partnerships across nursing, social work, and healthcare delivery systems.
Selected publications (2018–2024) demonstrate expertise in curriculum innovation, assessment tools, and inclusive community design. She received a $10,000 grant from Brooklyn Home for the Monmouth University Collaborative on Aging (MUCoA).

A licensed and registered occupational therapist, Dr. Hackenberg teaches courses such as Fieldwork Level Iia/Iib, Principles of Practice I-IV, and Professional Seminar. She is certified in clinical fieldwork education, mental health first aid, and teaching in the digital age. Professional memberships include the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) and National Academies of Practice.
Dr. Hackenberg balances her academic work with family life, residing near Philadelphia, PA, with her husband, son, and two dogs. Her career spans clinical practice in subacute rehab, acute care, and outpatient pediatrics, transitioning to academia in 2015.
