Gabriella Santangelo is a University Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Cambridge and a Fellow of St John's College. She specializes in Development Economics and is affiliated with the Empirical Microeconomics research group within the Faculty of Economics.

Dr. Santangelo's research examines the complex relationships between agricultural development, education, and structural economic transformation. She has published in top economics journals including the American Economic Review, with recent work focusing on the human dimensions of economic transformation.
She received her Ph.D. in Economics from Yale University in May 2016 and teaches PIIB Paper 7 - Public Economics at Cambridge. Her research portfolio demonstrates a consistent focus on empirical analysis of development processes, particularly the interconnections between agricultural sectors and broader economic transformation.
