Weilong Zhang is a tenured Associate Professor at the Faculty of Economics, University of Cambridge and affiliated with Selwyn College. His research combines Labor Economics, Education Economics, and Family Economics with psychological dimensions, focusing on how personality traits influence economic decisions.

Research Interests include gender disparities in labor markets and households, job search dynamics, and the impact of education policies. He uses structural econometric models to analyze behavioral mechanisms, such as how personality affects wage gaps and how intra-household financial decisions reflect bargaining power.
Recent Publications highlight spatial job search models for minimum wage impacts, dynamic analyses of genetic/endowment effects on earnings, and evaluations of early education policies in Mexico. His work often bridges microeconomic theory with empirical validation.
Research Grants: Funded by the British Academy (2020–2021) for intra-household portfolio choice studies. Teaching modules include Signalling, Wages Structure, Unions and Topics in Public Economics.
Advised PhD Students include Yuting (Tina) Zhang (Applied Microeconomics, Aging), Qianyu Yang (Genetic Endowments, Inequality), and Tianyu Pang (Empirical Microeconomics, Annuity Markets). He serves on the Equality Committee and holds regular Office Hours on Fridays (4:00–5:00pm).
