Pengpeng Xiao is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Duke University's Trinity College of Arts & Sciences. He holds a PhD from Yale University (2020) and previously served as Assistant Research Professor (2021-2022) and Scholar in Residence (2020-2021) at Duke. His research focuses on gender inequality, labor market dynamics, and household decision-making, with notable work on employer responses to family leave policies and the gender wage gap.
Education: PhD in Economics from Yale University (2020).
Research interests include search and matching theory, education economics, and intra-household resource allocation. His recent work examines how parental leave expansions affect firm behavior and explores equilibrium sorting mechanisms in labor markets. He teaches advanced courses on gender and family economics, including ECON 443/643 and ECON 890.
Recent publications analyze employer strategies under family leave mandates and wage disparities linked to labor market equilibrium. He actively participates in professional development programs like the 2023 Faculty Success Program.
