Gabriele Uenzelmann-Neben

Dr. Gabriele Uenzelmann-Neben is a Senior Scientist in Geophysics at the Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI) in Bremerhaven, Germany. She has been affiliated with AWI since 1993 and previously worked at Kiel University (1986–1989) and the University of Bremen (1992). Her roles include ECORD member of the International Ocean Drilling Programme, Associate Editor for Marine Geology, and member of the National Scientific Committee of Antarctic Research (SCAR).

Her research focuses on continental margins, polar geophysics, sediment transport processes, glaciomarine sedimentation, and seismic processing. Recent publications highlight her work on West Antarctic Ice Sheet dynamics during the Pliocene, Eocene-Oligocene transition, and Cretaceous greenhouse periods. She contributes to projects like the International Ocean Discovery Programme (IODP) and studies the tectono-stratigraphic evolution of the Kerguelen Large Igneous Province.
