معرفی
Dr. Frank Lamy is Deputy Section Head of Marine Geology at the Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI), leading research into ocean-climate interactions. He specializes in reconstructing past climate and ocean dynamics using sediment cores from the Southern Ocean and Chilean margin. His work focuses on dust provenance, Antarctic Circumpolar Current variability, and glacial-interglacial cycles.
Research interests include atmosphere-ocean interactions over orbital timescales, millennial-scale climate variability, and Holocene ocean changes. He is speaker of T3_WP1 “Circumpolar climate variability and global teleconnections” and collaborates on projects like DYNAPACC (IODP Expedition 383).
Recent studies highlight Southern Hemisphere climate linkages, dust transport patterns, and ice sheet dynamics. His work integrates sedimentology, geochemistry, and paleomagnetic data to address long-term Earth system changes.
- Key projects: Antarctic Circumpolar Current dynamics, Patagonian ice sheet fluctuations, and Subantarctic Pacific export production
- Methodologies: Isotope geochemistry, benthic foraminifera analysis, and sediment core chronology
- Fieldwork: RV Polarstern cruises and IODP drilling operations
