Gabriela Stoicea is an Associate Professor of German and Interdisciplinary Studies at Clemson University, affiliated with the Department of Languages and the World Cinema program. She holds a Ph.D. in German from Yale University, alongside M.Phil., M.A., and additional translation-focused degrees. Her research bridges German literature, cultural studies, and the visual arts, focusing on intersections between science, politics, and corporeal representation in 18th-20th century works.
Research interests include body studies, gender/sexuality theory, film analysis, and translation as intercultural dialogue. Notable works include her monograph *Fictions of Legibility* (2020) and co-edited volume on 18th-century catastrophes (Lessing Yearbook, 2021). Her publications span German Quarterly, Women in German Yearbook, and Midwest Modern Language Association journals.
Teaching specialties include cinema-politics, resistance literature, and German modernism. She has received Clemson’s CAAH Dean’s Award for Excellence in Teaching (2016) and holds competitive research grants. Academic activities include course design for the Honors College and interdisciplinary collaborations with the World Cinema program.
