Fábio Faria is a Researcher at the ISCTE-Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, affiliated with the Departamento de História and the CIES-Iscte research center. He specializes in Contemporary History, focusing on refugee movements, state surveillance, and social movements in 20th-century Iberia. His doctoral thesis on Spanish refugees in Portugal won the prestigious Mário Soares Prize 2021.

Research Interests: His work explores transnational mobilities, repression mechanisms under the Estado Novo regime, and the intersection of political surveillance with social solidarity. He has published extensively on Ibero-American police cooperation and refugee policies.
Publications: Recent works analyze Spanish refugees in Portugal, Polish migrants before WWII, and transnational criminal networks in early 20th-century Europe. His research combines archival sources with interdisciplinary approaches.
