Fredrik Nylén is an Associate Professor in Speech-language Pathology at Umeå University. He serves as Deputy Head and Assistant Head of the Department of Clinical Sciences. His research focuses on acoustic analysis of speech disorders, deep brain stimulation effects on voice tremor, and swallowing function assessment.

Recent publications (2023-2025) highlight interdisciplinary work bridging neurology (DBS outcomes in Parkinson's), endocrinology (voice biomarkers for acromegaly), and gender medicine (voice perception studies). Earlier work (1999-2005) focused on child speech acquisition patterns.
