Andrea Vaughan

Andrea Vaughan is an Associate Professor and Director of Clinical Education in the Department of Speech, Language & Hearing Sciences at Saint Louis University’s Doisy College of Health Sciences. She holds a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders from Southern Illinois University. Her research focuses on medical speech-language pathology, swallowing disorders across populations, voice disorders, and adult communication impairments. She has extensive clinical experience in acute care settings, specializing in neurology, oncology, and trauma rehabilitation.

Research & Clinical Focus: Medical SLP, instrumental swallowing evaluation (MBS/FEES), pediatric and geriatric dysphagia, Parkinson’s disease therapy, and cognitive stimulation. Dr. Vaughan has presented nationally and internationally on swallowing disorders, voice therapy, and geriatric care. She has secured grants totaling over $150,000 for research on Parkinson’s disease interventions and geriatric rehabilitation.

Service & Leadership: Faculty advisor for SLU’s National Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association, member of the Institute for Translational Neuroscience, and leader in interdisciplinary geriatric care initiatives. She has mentored numerous students and clinicians, emphasizing clinical excellence and interprofessional collaboration.
