Frans M. van Eijnatten

Dr. Frans M. van Eijnatten serves as Associate Professor of Organizational Renewal and Complexity within the Department of Industrial Engineering & Innovation Sciences at Eindhoven University of Technology, with concurrent teaching appointments at TIAS Business School in Executive Master programs for Real Estate and Operational Excellence.

His educational foundation includes a Bachelor’s/Master’s in Organizational Psychology from Tilburg University (1974-1978) and a PhD from Radboud University Nijmegen (1985) focused on socio-technical task analysis at Philips across four European countries.

Van Eijnatten’s research pioneers Chaordic Systems Thinking (CST), examining chaos and complexity theory applications in organizational innovation for manufacturing and service sectors. He founded the European Chaos and Complexity in Organizations Network (ECCON), edited CST special issues for leading journals, and investigates sustainable work systems through complexity lenses. His methodology expertise spans socio-technical design and organizational behavior frameworks.

Publication analysis reveals consistent CST application across domains: sustainable work practices (2010), knowledge transfer mechanisms (2004, 2009), manufacturing innovation (2007), and organizational sustainability (2008), demonstrating interdisciplinary integration of complexity science with management theory.
