Professor Dr.-Ing. Frank Kameier is a faculty member at Hochschule Düsseldorf in the Faculty of Mechanical and Process Engineering, where he leads the Institute of Sound and Vibration Engineering (ISAVE). His office is located in Building 5, Room 05.E.060 at Münsterstraße 156, 40476 Düsseldorf, with contact number +49 211 4351 9721.
Professor Kameier specializes in Sound and Vibration Engineering with a focus on Low Noise Design, Fluid Mechanics, Acoustics, and Computational Fluid Dynamics. His research particularly emphasizes centrifugal fans and improving energy efficiency of radial fans (Green-Fans). He has supervised numerous theses in these areas, with recent work including investigations into particle mobility in shaft installations, acoustic measurement of active noise cancellation systems, and aerodynamic analysis of centrifugal fan design procedures.
His research portfolio includes significant industrial collaborations with companies such as Nord-Micro GmbH, DENSO AUTOMOTIVE Deutschland, Brose Fahrzeugteile, Max Weishaupt GmbH, Pollrich Group, Rolls-Royce Deutschland, DaimlerChrysler, EADS, Océ, e-on, and Siemens AG Power Generation. His work spans aeroacoustic optimization, noise reduction, flow-induced vibrations, and energy efficiency improvements across various applications from automotive components to industrial ventilation systems.
Professor Kameier has received the Dr. Albert Klein-Preis in 1992 and holds multiple patents related to fan technology, outflow valves for aircraft, and sound emission reduction methods. His patented work includes innovations in fan impeller design, oscillating cylinders for energy conversion from flows, and aircraft outflow valves that have been implemented in Boeing 787 applications.
He has supervised over 50 theses since 2000, mentoring students in areas ranging from experimental transfer analysis of bionically inspired modifications to computational fluid dynamics simulations of quadcopters. His teaching includes courses on Fundamentals of Fluid Mechanics (Bachelor), Fluid Mechanics and Noise Protection (Bachelor), Signal Processing (Master), and Low Noise Design.
