Prof. Dr. jur. Peter C. Fischer, M.C.J. (NYU) serves as Professor of Business Law at the University of Applied Sciences Düsseldorf, Faculty of Business Studies. His teaching focuses on Labor Law, Civil Law, and Commercial and Business Law. Since 2016, he has chaired the Examination Board of the Department of Economics and has been a member of the Faculty Council since 2014, demonstrating significant institutional leadership.
Prof. Fischer earned his legal education at the University of Freiburg and Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich, completing both State Examinations in Bavaria. He earned his doctorate on 'Policy Clauses in the Constitutions of the new German States' and further advanced his qualifications with a Master of Comparative Jurisprudence from NYU School of Law, where he also passed the New York Bar Exam.
His research expertise spans Business Law with particular depth in Corporate Law, Mergers and Acquisitions, and International Business Law. His scholarly work consistently bridges theoretical legal frameworks with practical business applications, examining topics such as due diligence procedures, corporate restructuring, and the evolving landscape of corporate governance. His publications demonstrate a progression from foundational business law concepts to increasingly specialized areas including geopolitical risk management and D&O insurance.
Recent scholarship reveals growing emphasis on contemporary challenges including AI in M&A, ESG due diligence, and the legal implications of geopolitical instability on corporate governance structures. His work maintains strong connections to practical legal applications while contributing to academic discourse in business law.
Prof. Fischer actively supervises Bachelor's and Master's theses on specialized topics including corporate acquisitions, ESG due diligence, digitalization in M&A, corporate governance codes, and compliance management systems. His administrative responsibilities extend beyond thesis supervision to examination board leadership and international accreditation assessments.
With extensive international experience including practice in New York and work on cross-border transactions across Europe and Asia, Prof. Fischer brings a global perspective to his teaching and research. He regularly delivers professional development lectures for organizations including Deloitte, participates in international academic collaborations, and serves as a guest lecturer at multiple institutions.
