Francis Fallon is an Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy and Psychology at St. John's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, St. John's University. He holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Lancaster University (UK), an M.Phil. in Intellectual History from the University of Cambridge (UK), and a B.A. in Philosophy and History from Trinity College Dublin.
His research focuses on Philosophy of Mind, Cognitive Science, and Consciousness, with interdisciplinary projects such as the Templeton World Charities Foundation-funded Change Detection During Saccades (CDDS) and the COGITATE initiative, both employing experimental and neuroimaging methods. He leads the Representation: Past, Present, and Future (RPPF) project at Trinity College Dublin’s Institute of Neuroscience, examining the concept of representation in AI and neuroscience.
Dr. Fallon has published in journals like PLOS One, Entropy, and Review of Philosophy and Psychology, and co-edited volumes such as Agnosticism: Explorations in Philosophy and Religious Thought. He serves on the board of the Long Island Philosophical Society and actively reviews for journals like BJPS and Synthese.
His collaborative work emphasizes adversarial methodologies and replication studies, with grants from Templeton World Charities and the Wellcome Trust. Fallon’s teaching and research bridge philosophy, cognitive science, and interdisciplinary approaches to understanding the mind.
