Francesco Squintani is a Professor of Economics at the University of Warwick, where he directs the Quantitative and Analytical Political Economy Research Centre (QAPEC). He holds additional affiliations as a Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) and Baffi CAREFIN at Bocconi University. His career includes tenured positions at the University of Rochester, University College London, Università degli Studi di Brescia, and the University of Essex. He earned his PhD in Economics from Northwestern University in 2000 under advisors Eddie Dekel and Juuso Valimaki.
Research focuses on Political Economy, Economic Theory, and Game Theory, with emphasis on formal models of elections, communication games, international relations, and contract theory. Notable work includes studies on strategic militarization, political mediation, and innovation dynamics. He co-founded the Political Economy UK Research Group and organizes international conferences in political economy.
Teaching spans graduate courses in Microeconomics and Theoretical Political Economics at Warwick. His publications appear in top journals like the American Economic Review, Journal of Political Economy, and Review of Economic Studies. He has delivered presentations globally, including at Princeton, UCLA, and the London School of Economics.
