Francesco Somaini is an Associate Professor of Digital Media Strategies and Online Journalism at Central Washington University (CWU). He coordinates the Media and Journalism program and advises CWU's award-winning student newspaper, The Observer. Dr. Somaini holds a PhD in Media Studies from the University of Oregon and prior experience as a daily newspaper reporter in Switzerland. His work explores intersections between traditional print and digital journalism, emphasizing content analysis methodologies.
Research interests include user-generated content dynamics, international communication patterns, and the evolving role of bylines in shaping news credibility. His studies often highlight how geographic proximity to immigration entry points influences borderland newspaper coverage.
