Francesco Cognetti is a Professor of Oncology at Unicamillus International Medical University of Rome. Previously, he served as Director of the Medical Oncology Department and Scientific Director at the IRCCS Regina Elena Institute in Rome, and as Professor of Medical Oncology at Sapienza University. He has held leadership roles including President of the Italian Association of Medical Oncology (AIOM), Chairman of the Membership Committee and Member of the Executive Committee of ESMO, and President of the 'Together Against Cancer' Foundation. Currently, he is President of the Confederation of Oncologists, Cardiologists, Hematologists (FOCE) and Coordinator of the Forum of the Scientific Societies of Italian Hospital and University Clinics (FoSCC).
His research focuses on clinical oncology, cancer treatment protocols, and oncology drug development. With over 421 peer-reviewed publications in top journals, his work has an h-index of 63 and 21,410 total citations (SCOPUS). He has authored books in oncology and contributed to policy through roles in the National Superior Health Council.
