Fran Gebhard serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Theatre at the University of Victoria, bringing 30 years of professional performance experience across theatre, film, and television to her academic role. She teaches core courses including Introduction to the Art of Acting (THEA 120) and specialized camera technique training for acting students.
Her educational foundation includes an MFA from the University of British Columbia. Professional expertise centers on stage and screen performance, with significant contributions to Canadian theatre through directing at UVic's Phoenix Theatre (including You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown and A Midsummer Night's Dream) and national engagement via Theatre BC workshops and festival adjudication.
Gebhard maintains an active creative practice through her one-woman show Looking For Kitty and film/television work including the Genie-nominated Blue City Slammers, Dead Zone, and Case No.39. She previously held leadership roles at the Banff Centre as Program Head of the Playwrights’ Colony.
