Fozia Akhtar Ali

Fozia Akhtar Ali is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA). She joined the faculty in August 2011 after completing her Family Medicine residency at UTHSCSA, where she served as Chief Resident. Dr. Ali specializes in Women's Health and Obesity Medicine, and is certified by the American Board of Obesity Medicine since 2015.

• Teaches and mentors Family Medicine residents and medical students at the Family Health Center and University Hospital
• Facilitates small groups of pre-clinical students as a Longitudinal Pre-Clinical Student Preceptor

Her research focuses on obesity prevention and treatment, driven by clinical observations of obesity-related conditions in patients. She actively leads quality improvement projects and mentors residents in scholarly activities.

Research & Grants: Dr. Ali has served as Principal Investigator on projects funded by the AAFP Foundation, Texas Academy of Family Physicians (TAFP), and the IIMS Community Engagement Small Project Grants Program. Her work has been presented at conferences including the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM), North American Primary Care Research Group (NAPCRG), and American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) meetings.

Labs & Teams: Engaged in research and quality improvement initiatives at the Family Health Center, where she guides residents in disseminating project outcomes.
