Florian Ueberbacher

Florian Ueberbacher is an Associate Professor of Management at MBS Education since 2021. He coordinates the 'MOST' (Management and Organization of Sustainable Transformation) research group and co-leads the 'MBS Paper Clinic' with Prof. Roy Thurik. Previously, he held roles as senior researcher and lecturer at the University of Zurich, maintaining an ongoing affiliation there. He earned his Ph.D. in Management from the University of St. Gallen (Switzerland).

His research explores the role of business in societal contexts, focusing on organizational behavior and strategic responses to complex institutional environments—particularly political/regulatory dynamics and socio-environmental issues. His work has been supported by competitive grants and published in top journals like Administrative Science Quarterly and Journal of Management Studies.

Teaching emphasizes management, strategy, and 'business and society' topics (e.g., sustainability, CSR, business politics). Courses include 'Corporate Diplomacy and Nonmarket Strategy' and 'Globalization and Geopolitics' at MBS. His pedagogical approach integrates theoretical frameworks with real-world cases, consistently earning strong student evaluations.
