Florian Überbacher

Florian Überbacher is an Associate Professor of Management (with tenure) at Montpellier Business School. He holds a PhD in Management from the University of St. Gallen (summa cum laude), where he also earned an M.A. in Business and Social Sciences with distinction. His research focuses on Business and Society, Business-Government Relations, Globalization, and Organizational Theories. He has held roles as Senior Research Fellow at the University of Zurich’s Chair for Foundations of Business Administration and as Lecturer at the University of St. Gallen and the University of Lucerne. His work bridges institutional theory with political and global dimensions of business, emphasizing power dynamics and regulatory frameworks.

Key awards include the Peter Werhahn Award 2013 for his PhD thesis. His publications explore topics like institutional change driven by extraterritorial laws, entrepreneurial cultural strategies, and new venture legitimation.

Prior roles include Research Associate at the University of St. Gallen and Teaching Assistant at the University of Innsbruck.
