Flavia Frisone is a Full Professor of Greek History at the University of Salento's Department of Cultural Heritage, specializing in ancient Mediterranean civilizations. She serves as Vice-President of the Cultural Heritage degree program with responsibility for international double degree courses.
Her research focuses on two primary areas: Greek colonization patterns in the western Mediterranean (particularly Magna Graecia and Sicily), and the sociopolitical dimensions of Greek rituals and funerary regulations. She has extensively studied epigraphic evidence and historical geography of the ancient world.
Professor Frisone has participated in numerous national and international research projects (PRIN, INTERREG), organized major academic conferences on Greek colonization, and contributed to museum exhibitions on Mediterranean cultural heritage. Her recent publications examine territorial strategies in Magna Graecia and the institutional history of archaeology in southern Italy.
