Edoardo Bianchi

Edoardo Bianchi is an Associate Professor of Ancient Greek History at the Department of Cultures and Civilizations, University of Verona. His research focuses on the history of the Mediterranean from the Archaic age to the Hellenistic period, with particular emphasis on the political and cultural relations between Greeks, Romans, and Etruscans during the VI-III centuries BCE. He teaches Ancient Greek History across multiple degree programs including Cultural Heritage and Humanities.

Professor Bianchi's recent publications demonstrate a consistent focus on ancient Mediterranean history, particularly examining Greek colonial settlements, the interplay between historical accounts and mythological traditions, and the intellectual history of classical scholarship. His work often bridges literary analysis with archaeological evidence to provide nuanced interpretations of ancient political dynamics across Sicily, Magna Graecia, and Etruria.

He leads the PRIN 2022 research project "Mediterranean Multipolarity and Roman Unipolarity 3rd-2nd Centuries BCE" and previously participated in the PRIN 2017 project on Italian scholars facing racial laws (1938-45). His academic service includes chairing the Collegio didattico for Cultural Heritage and History of Arts programs, and membership on multiple departmental committees including the Communication and Web Committee and Teaching Committee.
