Filia Garivaldis is a Senior Lecturer at Monash University’s Monash Sustainable Development Institute (MSDI), where she leads the Master of Behaviour and Systemic Change program and co-founded the C21 Educational Research Lab. She also held a Senior Lecturer and Pathway Leader position at Regent’s University London (2011–2015). Her research focuses on applying behavioral science and psychology to improve teaching and learning, particularly in online modalities. Key projects include developing Monash’s first university-wide online student orientation and a micro-credential program on behavioral science. She has received awards such as the 2023 Vice-Chancellor’s Award and was shortlisted for BHERT awards in 2018 and 2019. Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, emphasizing education’s role in societal change.
Her publications span behavioral insights in education, online learning design, and pandemic impacts on education. She serves on editorial boards for journals like the International Journal of Healthcare Simulation and actively contributes to educational innovation through workshops and conferences. Recent media engagements include discussions on online professional development and workplace simulation benefits.
Dr. Garivaldis has led funded projects such as the Inter-Faculty Transformation Project for online student resources and co-edited the textbook Tertiary Online Teaching and Learning (Springer, 2020). Her research collaborations span international institutions, including King’s College London and the United Nations SDG Academy.
