Prof. Fiamma Mantovani is an Associate Professor in Cellular and Experimental Biology at the Department of Life Sciences, University of Trieste (UniTS), and a key member of the research group led by Prof. Giannino Del Sal. Her work focuses on molecular oncology, particularly the roles of mutant p53 and prolyl-isomerase Pin1 in tumor progression, stem cell biology, and therapeutic resistance.
Her research interests span cancer biology, signal transduction, epigenetic regulation, and metabolic reprogramming, with a clinical emphasis on triple-negative breast cancer and precision oncology. She investigates how mechanical and metabolic cues modulate mutant p53 stability and function, contributing to novel therapeutic strategies like Pin1 inhibition.
Recent publications highlight her contributions to understanding the interplay between p53 mutations, Pin1, and YAP/TAZ in cancer. Her work integrates cell biology, mouse models, and clinical trial data, aiming to identify biomarkers and drug targets for aggressive tumors.
She actively participates in multidisciplinary projects such as the National Center for Gene Therapy and Drug Based on RNA Technology and collaborates on organoid biobanking for preclinical testing. Her lab employs high-content screening and translational approaches to bridge basic science with clinical applications.
