Fernando Giancotti

Lt.Gen. Fernando Giancotti serves as the Commander of the Italian Air Force Operational Forces Command and holds the Intesa SanPaolo Visiting Professor Chair at the University of Rome Tor Vergata's Department of Global Governance. With over 2,800 flying hours on F-104 and Tornado aircraft, he has held leadership roles including Chief of the Italian Air Staff's Organization and Personnel Division, Defense Attaché in Berlin, and Commander of the Air Force Academy.

• Education: BS degrees from the University of Naples and University of Trieste; Master in Strategic Studies (Air War College, 1999); Industrial College of the Armed Forces (NDU, 2006).
• Research Interests: Defense strategy, leadership in complex environments, and organizational management. Authored works on leadership and co-authored a chapter in 'Project and Complexity' (2012).

His research on reserve forces earned the Army Association Award (2006). He contributes to defense and management publications and speaks fluent English and German.
