Felix Bennetts is a Research Fellow at the Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (Monash University), specializing in drug discovery biology. He completed his PhD in October 2024, focusing on the structural and functional characterization of the P2X1 receptor. His current research targets the P2X1 receptor for developing non-hormonal oral male contraceptives, supported by MCI funding. He collaborates with Associate Professor David Thal and Dr. Sabatino Ventura.
- Education: PhD in Structural Biology (2024)
- Research Interests: Membrane proteins, structural biology, pharmacology, male contraception, cryo-EM, purinergic receptors.
Key projects include the development of P2X1 receptor antagonists and identifying lead molecules for male contraceptives. His work bridges structural biology with drug discovery to identify druggable sites and guide small molecule therapeutics.
Notable collaborations span structural biology and pharmacology, with recent outputs focusing on P2X1 receptor mechanisms and TRPV4 channel studies.
