Felix Behler is a postdoctoral researcher and academic staff member at the University of Paderborn's Institute for English and American Studies within the Faculty of Cultural Studies. He completed his PhD in English Literature (summa cum laude) in September 2025 and has been teaching at the university since November 2020. His academic journey includes undergraduate studies at Piedmont University in the USA and advanced degrees from the University of Paderborn in English and American Studies and History.
Dr. Behler's research focuses on modern and contemporary British literature with particular expertise in war literature, rural communities, memory culture, and nostalgia. His work examines soldier poetry traditions, representations of the British countryside, and intersections between literature, politics, and ideology. He has presented his research at major international conferences including the MLA Convention in Washington D.C. (2022) and the ESSE Conference.
His recent publications analyze contemporary soldier poetry, Downton Abbey's historical roots, and transformations in the British countryside. These works appear in journals such as Anglica, IDEA, and the Journal for the Study of British Cultures. His current major project focuses on 'The New Soldier Poets.'
