Dr. Federico Renda serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi, UAE, affiliated with the KU Center for Autonomous Robotic Systems. He holds editorial roles including Associate Editor for the International Journal of Robotics Research (IJRR) and Program Committee Member for the International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA).

Dr. Renda's research centers on soft robotics, underwater robotics, and geometric mechanics, with emphasis on modeling deformable manipulators and underwater swarm systems for surveillance. Current KU-sponsored projects include biomimetic jet propulsion systems inspired by cephalopods and marine robotics for offshore infrastructure maintenance.
He actively supervises six PhD students and two post-doctoral fellows while teaching advanced courses including Control of Robotic Systems (MEEN 767) and UAV Modeling and Control (AERO401).
