Fatema Serajee

Dr. Fatema Serajee is a Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Neurology at Wayne State University School of Medicine. She directs the Neurology Sleep Clinic at Children's Hospital of Michigan (CHM) and teaches Sleep Medicine fellows in pediatric sleep disorders.

Education:

• Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Dhaka University/Mymensingh Medical College, Bangladesh (1988)

• Residency in Pediatrics at Children's Hospital of Michigan, Detroit Medical Center, Wayne State University School of Medicine (2006)
• Fellowship in Pediatric Neurology at Children's Hospital of Michigan, Detroit Medical Center, Wayne State University School of Medicine (2009)

Dr. Serajee's research focuses on neurological disorders in children, with particular emphasis on sleep disorders, autism spectrum disorders, developmental delays, epilepsy, and neurogenetic conditions. Her work bridges clinical practice and research, aiming to improve understanding and treatment of complex pediatric neurological conditions. She has made significant contributions to understanding the genetic basis of autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders.

Dr. Serajee's publications span multiple areas of pediatric neurology, with a strong emphasis on genetic factors in neurological disorders, sleep medicine, and autism research. Her work shows a consistent focus on understanding the underlying mechanisms of neurological conditions to improve diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.

As an educator, Dr. Serajee mentors Sleep Medicine fellows in pediatric sleep disorders and contributes to the training of future pediatric neurologists at Wayne State University.

Dr. Serajee directs the Neurology Sleep Clinic at Children's Hospital of Michigan, where she leads a multidisciplinary team focused on diagnosing and treating sleep disorders in children with neurological conditions.
