Michael E. Behen, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Neurology at Wayne State University School of Medicine. He works at the Translational Imaging Center at Children's Hospital of Michigan, where he conducts research on neurocognitive, behavioral, and imaging correlates of various developmental and psychiatric disorders.
Dr. Behen earned his B.A. from the University of Michigan, Dearborn in 1990 and completed his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Wayne State University in 2004. Following his doctoral studies, he completed a fellowship at the Children's Hospital of Michigan-PET Center in Pediatrics from 2004-2006. His internship was completed at Children's Center of Wayne County from 1993-1996.
Dr. Behen's primary research interests focus on the neurocognitive, behavioral, and imaging correlates of early social deprivation, Tourette Syndrome, and developmental disorders. His work particularly examines functional and structural correlates of early severe social deprivation and etiological factors of developmental disabilities. His research is currently funded by the National Institute of Mental Health.
