Farhad R. Danesh

Farhad R. Danesh is a Professor in the Division of Internal Medicine at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX, and serves as Chief of the Section of Nephrology. He also holds an Adjunct Professor position in Pharmacology at Baylor College of Medicine and is a tenured Professor of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine’s Department of Internal Medicine.

His research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying diabetic nephropathy progression, particularly mitochondrial dynamics and microRNA regulation in diabetic kidney disease. His work has led to paradigm-shifting discoveries, such as the role of mitochondrial dynamics in glucose-mediated microvascular damage and the identification of miRNAs as key regulators in diabetic complications.
