Farah Latif is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Strategic Communication at George Mason University (GMU). Her research focuses on the intersection of reputation management, strategic communication, and political discourse. She holds a Ph.D. (2021) and M.A. (2016) in Strategic Communication from GMU, with a focus on public diplomacy and crisis communication in Pakistan. Latif is affiliated with the Center for Media and Public Affairs (CMPA) and the Character Assassination and Reputation Politics (CARP) Lab at GMU.
Her research interests include social media’s role in reputation management, political satire’s impact on public perception, and counter-terrorism communication strategies. Notable publications address late-night comedy’s influence on presidential campaigns, pandemic communication in Pakistan, and gaslighting in climate change discourse.
Latif teaches courses such as Free Speech and Ethics, Politics and Mass Media, and Small Group Communication. She has presented at major conferences including the International Communication Association (ICA) and the Southern Political Science Association. Her work bridges academic research with practical applications in corporate, nonprofit, and governmental settings.
Affiliations include the CARP Lab and CMPA, where she contributes to interdisciplinary projects on media, politics, and public affairs. Office hours are held via Zoom Wednesday evenings.
