Eric B Shiraev is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Psychology at George Mason University. He holds academic degrees from St. Petersburg University (Russia) and completed post-doctoral work at UCLA. His research focuses on cross-cultural psychology, political psychology, and comparative political systems, emphasizing identity and cultural influences in governance and international relations.
Shiraev has authored/co-authored 19 books including Cross-Cultural Psychology (Routledge), International Relations (Oxford University Press), and Russian Government and Politics. He collaborates internationally on character assassination research through the CARP lab, co-editing the Handbook on Character Assassination and Reputation Management (2019) and developing a textbook on the subject.
His work extends to policy briefs, opinion essays, and interdisciplinary projects with scholars like Martijn Icks (UvA), Jennifer Keohane (UB), and Sergei Samoilenko (GMU). Research highlights include studies on contentious elections (Counting Every Vote) and Soviet societal perspectives.
