His extensive publication record reflects deep engagement with German constitutional development, church-state relations, and historical legal systems. Wittreck's recent scholarly work shows a continued focus on judicial independence, constitutional safeguards, religious freedom, and the historical development of German constitutional law. Among his professional honors, Wittreck received the Röntgenpreis from the University of Würzburg and its alumni association in 2005. He is also a founding member of the Center for Legal Foundations Research at the University of Würzburg since 2006 and has contributed significantly to legal education through his teaching and textbook publications, including co-authoring multiple editions of 'Deutsches und Europäisches Verfassungsrecht I' with Gernot Sydow.
