Evie Johnny Ruddy

Evie Johnny Ruddy is an Assistant Professor of Creative Technologies + Design in the Faculty of Media, Art, and Performance at the University of Regina and a Doctoral Candidate at Carleton University's Institute for Comparative Studies in Literature, Art, and Culture. As a trans non-binary artist-scholar of Irish, French, and German settler descent living in Treaty 4 territory (Regina), their work centers on using technology for liberation.

Research focuses on disrupting colonial and cisheteropatriarchal systems through creative technologies, with specializations in augmented reality, digital storytelling, and design justice. Their practice merges trans studies, queer theory, and critical geography to create locative audio experiences and interactive media that reimagine joyful futures.

Recent creative outputs like Buffalo Futurism and Un/tied demonstrate a consistent trajectory of award-winning work at the intersection of Indigenous futurism, trans narratives, and emerging technologies, often developed through community collaboration and exhibited at major international festivals.
