Dr Evelien Lemmens is a Researcher and Programme Manager for the Clinical Effectiveness Group (CEG) at Queen Mary University of London's Wolfson Institute of Population Health. She holds a PhD in History from the same institution, with a thesis focusing on the historical relationship between indigestion and emotional health in Britain (1780–1910). Her current work leverages electronic health records and biomedical databases to improve patient care, reduce health inequalities, and enhance medicines safety. She also facilitates Problem-Based Learning (PBL) sessions for first-year MBBS students.
Previously, Dr Lemmens taught undergraduate history modules on emotions, science, gender, and medical history, including courses like 'Madness and Medicine in Modern Britain.' Her research interests span the history of emotions and illness, Medical Humanities, and the intersection of digestive and emotional health in the 19th century.
